collecting donations
phew! very tired today after coming back from st anne’s feast. was there from 3.00pm to 9.00pm. was on ‘duty’ to collect donations for our SSVP fund… and was standing most of the time.
hmm… the collection was not bad, i see. quite a number of people were generous to donate. those who donated were usually those whom we approached! yeah, we can’t simply stand there with the tins in our hands, hoping for the people to come to us to drop in some money (though of course, at times we did that). we had to approach them, open our mouth to say something. it was interesting to see people’s reaction when we approached them. i will either said “would you mind to help us to help the poor?” or “would you mind to make some donations to our society?”. i don’t like those who totally ignore me. at least if they didn’t want to give, can like some did, shook their heads or waved their hands… but a few simply ignore me like i was a stone! of course we got more who turned us down (i.e. didn’t donate) than those who did donate.
well, we will know how much we collected (the duration of the feast, not only yesterday) in a week’s time when all the other conferences (churches) counted the money.
soon, i think in september, we have to go out for street collections. this is going to be more tough as it is out on the street to the public, many of them who do not know about our society. anyway, we’ll try our best of course since our society depends on fund-raising.
