our squash champion
hurray to nicole david for being the first malaysian to win the malaysian open women’s squash title since the inception of the tournament in 1975. she beats world no. 1 champion, vanessa atkinson to lift the malaysian open squash title.
i am very proud of her win - we have something in common - no, no, not that i play squash - we are both from penang and am a catholic. few years back, once in a while nicole and her family would come to our church for mass. now they are parishioners of cathedral of holy spirit. i know her mother just casually. oh, i heard her mother is coming to our office today for a meeting. very humble lady.

free to believe what you want to believe
claudia theophilus of malaysiakini rightly calls on the government to let sky kingdom followers practice in peace.
yes, was it not our government prided itself in malaysia being a multi religious and multi racial country? that everyone are free to practice their own faith/belief? so why indeed can’t ayah pin’s followers practice what they believe in freely?

feast of st anne & society of st vincent de paul
i guess a number of you know of the feast of st anne. the week-long celebration at the church of st anne, bukit mertjam, had started last sunday (24 july). many had already been there, especially on 26 july, the real day of the feast. as usual, last year i was there. i took lots of pictures and blog about it too. actually last year, i was there 3 days to help in our society of st vincent de paul’s (SSVP) fund raising collection.

documentation workshop

it seemed that the documentation workshop i attended in ipoh was actually for the religious only but i was sent by my office anyway. so there i was, the only lay person among the 8 nuns there.
the workshop was held at the la salle centre in ipoh, which is just next to the st michael’s institution (SMI), and it was facilitated by br. vincent corkery, who is an expert in minutes/notes taking.
above pictue shows the front porch of the la salle centre. it is a very ‘green’ place, with lots of plants surrounding it and beautiful landscape. it has a fish pond too, and 3 fish aquariums.

(picture from the star)
any of you caught his interview on tv3 8pm news, 2 nights ago? i did and this coming from our former PM, the tun, really surprised me:
“we can even hire foreigners to run our country, including the prime minister’s post, so long as that foreigner has brain”.

making a point with a weapon
oh no. i was away during the UMNO general assembly and missed out interesting speeches to blog on. never mind, it’s not too late. there is one particular topic that i wouldn’t want to miss blogging on.
presenting the keris (a kind of malay dagger) brandishing politician….

keris in the air, asking for the new economic policies (NEP) to be retained.
add to that of him calling for ‘policies favourable to the malays’ made him a racist keris brandishing politician. and of course so are the others umnoputeras who joined in with them holding up their hands, shouting, as hisham wave the keris about. yes, it’s racism, and racism and more racism.

back… with a headache
hello. i’m back. unfortunately i have this terrible headache just after i got back. it’s that same pain on the eye kind of headache (the part just below the eyebrow). so it seems that i can’t blog today. so it seems that i have to go to bed now… oh no, early bed time again. my usual bed time is always 1.30 am to 2.00am when i’m at home but past 5 days when i was in ipoh for a workshop, i went to bed early - 11pm or midnight, and complained it was so boring at night without internet so had to sleep that early instead of 2.00am when i was at home. however, today when i’m at home, i was so happy thinking i can now stay till 2.00am and have time to blog but this stupid headache have to come to disturb me. arghh! i’m trying to stay till midnight but the pain is terrible at times so i guess i can’t.

play play with your eyes
ok. since i would not be blogging for 5 days, i figure out something to keep you guys entertain.
from eyetricks.com
stare at the four black dots in the center of the image for 30 - 60 seconds.
then quickly close your eyes and look at something bright (like a lamp or a window with sunlight coming through it). what do you see? you should see a white circle with an image inside it, which is supposedly to be the face of jesus (but of course we all don’t know exactly how jesus looks like - that is beside the point - now, just want to know if you did see an image of a person, who you want it to be, up to you).
