jail for giving up son

heard of this? a muslim parent was sentenced to 10 months jail for giving up his son for adoption to a non muslim woman.

the father said he had to give up his son for adoption as he was in ‘dire states’ and the adoption was done legally.

so what’s the matter here? anything wrong with that? apparently, the court think so, yes, it was wrong.
