taxi and bus fares going up
come 1st of may, taxi and bus fares will be increased, so the report went a few days ago.
well of course when i’m in penang, i don’t take the taxi, but i take the bus once in a while… the mini bus. the mini bus in penang cost 80 cents for a trip regardless of distance. i suppose when the increase came in effect, it will cost RM1?? this is too much. even at 80 cents is not worth it… BECAUSE most of the mini buses claim to have air-con, but always their air con not working. and many of the buses are in deplorable state. i hope before the increase can be made, the authorities will check that their service will improve.
i used to take the taxi if i go to KL. it is well known fact that many taxi operators refuse to use meter. the meter is just for show or for formality sake. few years back when i went to KL quite often, a number of times taking the taxi, i did encountered several who were willing to use the meter, but if i encountered those who refuse to use the meter, silly me still hopped on to the taxi. once i remember taking a taxi from brickfields to jalan alor and the taxi driver take me a flat RM10.
even if the taxi use meter, usually passengers will suspect the taxi drivers be up to some tricks, like purposely going the long way so that the meter will chock up more mileage and thus more charges!
or perhaps they try this trick:
==”when they take their cab in for calibration and fitting of meters, they would fit the car with the largest tyres possible and over-inflate them. Once back, they change the tyres to the smallest size possible…now for the same distance, the wheel has to rotate more revolutions and register longer distance travelled per the meter.”==
which was mentioned by uncle yap of beritamalaysia.
do you have any taxi woes?
