as a run-up to my post below about high-rise buildings, the sun reported that the town and country planing department is “planning guidelines for building structures to take into consideration foundations that can withstand earthquakes.”

and regarding the mention of evacuation from high-rise buidlings, the department was heard to say that the guidelines will also provide for evacuation routes from buildings in times of emergencies.

well i hope they would follow up with these 2 guidelines.

i wonder, many people had been saying that sales of condos by the sea will now drop, as many people would fear living near the sea.

this if food for thought (to do with the recent earthquake). from SCuM discussion group, a mr magoo wrote:

at about 12.10am today, as i was sitting in front of my computer, i suddenly felt the chair and the whole floor (i’m at 5th floor of my flat) shaking. at first i thought nothing of it, then as it began to shake again, i looked at my sister and asked “why is the floor shaking?” and she said yes she felt it too.

ok allow me to back-track to blog on holy thursday, after blogging on good friday yesterday (and today is holy saturday!). actually i wanted to blog on it on thursday itself but no time. i felt that holy thursday is often neglected as not many people (esp. non catholics) know of it.

today will be one of the two days in a year that many lapsed catholics goes to church. or we call them a twice-a-year catholic since they goes to church twice a year only.

what are the two days? christmas and good friday. (oh sometimes it is 3, plus easter). good friday is today. (i had blog about it last year here). good friday is a day in the catholic calendar the friday of which the church keeps the anniversary of the cruxifixion of jesus christ.

in yesterday’s dewan rakyat sitting, an MP calls for study why national schools fail to draw non-malays.

and he, datuk rosli mat hassan (BN-dungun)asked:
“is it because national schools are perceived as malay schools? this should not have happened as the schools should reflect a national image suitable for all races.”

and another MP, mohd alwi che ahmad (BN-ketereh)added:
“the issue now is that the malays want national schools to become more islamic but the non-malays said such schools were already too islamic,”

well, well, well. methinks both of them hit the nail on the head.

Some thoughtful information for those who are daughters, were daughters, have daughters, intend to have daughters, or intend to date a daughter.

10 RULES TO DATE MY DAUGHTER

Rule One:
If you pull into my driveway and honk you’d better be delivering a package, because you’re sure not picking anything up.

Rule Two:
You do not touch my daughter in front of me. You may glance at her, so long as you do not peer at anything below her neck. If you cannot keep your eyes or hands off of my daughter’s body, I will remove them.

hmm… this is strange. with alert from lcf and later adam, telling me they can’t see see the ads as i mentioned in my post below (on right column). but as i responded in comments, i did see the ads when i click on ‘preview’ after i inserted the ads code. there. the proof is up there - the picture. you see, on the right? the ads appeared there. (i choose vertical banner with 2 ads). then how come it cannot appear in my actual blog? *scratching head*

ahh… i finally jump in the bandwagon of many others bloggers to include google’s ad-sense in my blog. a girl gotta earn some money, esp. at this time when i feel so broke.

i notice that a few bloggers who uses ad-sense have started earning money already, so i think to myself why not me. at least i can say i do earn some money from blogging… or from being online.
