don’t smile! you are on camera!

the federal traffic chief say to you that if you see motorists cutting into the emergency lane, take a picture, then send it to them (the police).

oh goody! luckily i had bought my SE K700i camera-phone. actually one of the main reason i bought a camera phone is to take pictures of those damn motorists who blocked the parking bays of motorbikes (i’m a motorbike rider, see). now, there’s another good reason – to take photos of those buggers who think they are so smart to cut queues by using the emergency lane, and let the police deal with them!

the federal traffic chief senior asst comm II datuk gingkoi seman pancras said that he hoped that this would check the increasing number of motorists who misused the emergency lanes and continue:

“although traffic policemen have been directed to come down hard on such errant motorists, i welcome assistance from the public to provide any information on traffic offenders,” he said, reiterating that emergency lanes were for rescuers to reach accident victims fast.

maybe he was talking about WP/KL only. in penang, i see many motorists using the emergency lane all the time and no police in sight at all. instead of asking the public to take photos, why don’t the police install hidden camera at places where there are emergency lane, and where motorists are prone to misuse it? if they had installed camera at traffic light to catch those who beat the red light, surely they could do this too? maybe it is not so easy for emergency lanes at highway but for emergency lane at main roads (or is it known as trunk roads), it would be possible.

though i’m a biker, but it is only ‘halfway’ – church to office, while from house to church (long distance) i travel in car driven by my sister – to and fro everyday. i felt so ‘geram’ each time when we were stuck in a long queue then suddenly a car swoosh by past us using the emergency lane. there we were already going to lose patience in the jam and this smart alec’ had to cut us… illegally. grrr!
