PC from friend with me…
…but no internet
am going to be busy doing copy-writing

——-
i’m still without PC at home. and weekends being not in the office, not able to surf. i was told yesterday by my brother that he had found the motherboard for my PC but it is the one without the AGP video slot… around RM180. and he said if i want the one with the video slot, i’ll have to wait a bit longer. i guess since i can’t wait that long and since i don’t play games on my PC, without video slot is ok. so i hope by this week, he’ll get my PC up and running… then it’ll be back to normal for me… blogging and making comments on blog!

islam in interfaith commission irrelevant in our islamic state?

POSTED: Friday, 25/02/05, 5:22 PM   FILED: Uncategorized |

“i don’t agree with the setting up of the interfaith commission (IFC…Malaysia is an islamic state, will matters concerning islam also come under the purview of the IFC? no way, how can it be, i object to it,”

who do you think said that? none other than the minister in the PM’s department, datuk dr abdullah md zain. the idea of setting up an inter-faith commission was proposed by the bar council, and this matter formed the basis of the 2 days interfaith conference (beginning yesterday organised by the bar council, konrad-adenauer foundation and malaysian consultative council of buddhism, christianity, hinduism and sikhism (MCBCHS).

penang beach - haven for endangered sea turtles?

POSTED: Thursday, 24/02/05, 5:33 PM   FILED: Uncategorized |

Conservationists want to turn a popular Malaysian beach hit by the tsunami into a protected nesting area for endangered sea turtles, which hatched there for the first time in over a decade — probably because of a drop-off in tourists after the disaster.
    read further.

it was said that the mother turtle nested at the beach probably because fewer people visited the beach after the tsunami disaster. hence, the conservationist wanted to turn the area into a nesting area for the turtles.

    PC in ICU

POSTED: Monday, 21/02/05, 8:46 AM   FILED: Uncategorized |

argghh!! no blogging for me as my PC is sick!

been having some PC problems lately few weeks ago here and there but on saturday (19 feb) it turned worst, when my PC cannot boot up at all. yesterday evening, the ‘doctor’ - my brother came to have a look and though he spent so much time trying to ‘cure’ it, can’t. then he said it could be something wrong with the motherboard, therefore he need to take it back to the ‘hospital’ (his house lah) for major check/surgery or even install new motherboard or whatever. so he took my PC back yesterday and now i’m PCless. am now blogging quickly in office to inform you people of my predictment. there will be no updates from me then until my PC is back home from ICU.

    postage increment

POSTED: Thursday, 17/02/05, 1:47 AM   FILED: Uncategorized |

    UPDATED: 2/19/2005 01:55:00 AM

according to aliran, pos malaysia is not right to hike up the postal rates because it is hoarding huge cash reserves.
Pos Malaysia hikes rates despite hoarding huge cash reserves

“This privatised firm actually has an astounding three-quarters of a billion ringgit stashed away in cash or near-cash assets. In addition, Pos Malaysia is believed to earn some RM90 million ringgit annually in commissions for acting as a collection agent for bill payments on behalf of various firms. Not surprisingly, Pos Malaysia posted a net profit of RM 61million for the nine months ended September 2004 - an increase of more than 40 per cent from the corresponding period in the previous year. It is projected to earn a net profit of close to RM100 million this year based on existing postal rates.”

don’t smile! you are on camera!

POSTED: Wednesday, 16/02/05, 1:18 AM   FILED: Uncategorized |

the federal traffic chief say to you that if you see motorists cutting into the emergency lane, take a picture, then send it to them (the police).

oh goody! luckily i had bought my SE K700i camera-phone. actually one of the main reason i bought a camera phone is to take pictures of those damn motorists who blocked the parking bays of motorbikes (i’m a motorbike rider, see). now, there’s another good reason - to take photos of those buggers who think they are so smart to cut queues by using the emergency lane, and let the police deal with them!

    the fatima apparition

POSTED: Wednesday, 16/02/05, 12:15 AM   FILED: Uncategorized |

warning: this is a religious (catholic) post, so those not interested, please skip it.
    ——————-

i’ve got to talk about this because of this person, who was my namesake.

lucia is dead! don’t worry it is not me, it is lucia, the last fatima miracle witness.
    (other news on lucia’s death:
    portuguese mourn fatima witness.
nation mourns the girl who saw ‘the virgin mary’.)

what is the fatima miracle (or rather apparition)? well, in 1917, three shepherd children reported seeing visions of the blessed virgin mary on a hillside near the town of fatima, in portugal. read about the apparition here.
the three children were francisco, jacinta and lucia. francisco and jacinta died much early while lucia was still alive until 3 days ago. she was 97.

    govt. officials arrested

POSTED: Monday, 14/02/05, 1:33 AM   FILED: Uncategorized |

this news - government officials arrested in malaysia migrant probe - make it to the BBC.

for more related news, go to the beritamalaysia yahoo group.

those government officials mentioned are those from the national registration department (NRD), who are said to sell permanent resident documents to migrants.

should we be suprise or not?

in the meantime, our PM tells us that this is an unpardonable act.

    he had said:
“we must be very firm in dealing with people who abuse their power or betray the trust placed in them,”

famous last word! (or is it?)
