ouch! my elbow! (and aloe vera)
remember the day i fell while riding chaly and hurt my right elbow? well i thought it was just a minor wound and using my mum’s swear-by-it medicated oil known as “pak poh” oil is good enough to heal it. then later on, with a reminder from viewtru of using aloe vera, i suddenly remember we do have 2 pots of aloe vera plants, so i use aloe vera on the wound too. alternate between the ‘pak poh’ oil and aloe vera. but goodness, it doesn’t seems to get better. then one day i notice pus coming out from the wound. i cleaned it… then after an hour or so, it (the pus) came again. well, i continue using the ‘pak poh’ oil and aloe vera.
one day while i was in church, a friend who saw the wound was shocked and exclaimed that the wound is infected and i need to have an injection OR clean up the wound myself with dettol, then apply anti-septic cream. what? is it that bad? infected? no wonder it doesn’t seems to get better. i suppose once it is infected, it’s no point applying the aloe vera. it seems that after the fall, i did not wash the wound, i think, that’s why it became infected.
oh dear, i guess i have to take my friend’s advsie to wash the wound with dettol… but i’m so scared of the pain/sting that the dettol will cause, though another friend said to dilute the dettol with water then there will be no pain. well, guess tomorrow i will have to go to the pharmacy to buy those medication (dettol and anti-septic cream) and be brave to clean the wound. then i guess as it heals (after cleaning and using anti-septic cream), only i’ll rever to using aloe vera.
speaking of which, here is the aloe vera plant we have in our house.
it’s such a BIG plant, eh? look at the leaves! it’s huge! but the plant on the whole look ugly… why… because the root seems to go ‘senget’ and fall downwards… and as the plant was placed next to the railings, you notice that the leaves curl round the railings! ahh! this means we can no longer remove the pot… unless we cut off the leaves. why does the plant falls and curl to the railings i wonder. perhaps it is on the lookout for some sun and rain. heh.
this is the smaller aloe vera plant that we have just next to the bigger one. this one looks better eh?
aloe vera is known for its healing properties… but do you know you can drink aloe vera too? i mean of course the juice. anyway i had never use the aloe vera in our house as healing before (until now!) but at one stage i was using it as hair moisturiser quite regularly! that was very long time ago… almost 6 to 7 months, and do you know what, i had completely forgotten about the plants too until that day when viewtru mentioned it. how silly eh!
note: both these shots were taken with my digicam on macro mode (scale down 70% of original size). not bad eh? hey, if i’m huai bin, i would have taken a shot of my elbow injury too to show you. 😉
