charged for hugging and kissing (or so alleged)

remember the young couple who were caught by city hall officers for ‘hugging and kissing’ in KLCC about a year ago? well, yesterday, they were charged in court.

the couple insisted that they were just holding hands while the officers said they were hugging and kissing. hmm… so who was right?

if they were just holding hands, then the officers was wrong to summon them… but if they were really hugging and kissing, then i would say the officers were doing the right thing to summon them.

surprise? why i say so? hugging and kissing in a public place of course is an indecent act. it’s not in our culture to spy couples hugging and kissing in such a well known and well frequented by all place.

this couple are only 20 and 22. so young. nowadays we see so many young couples… some as young as 15… behaving indecently. and by indecent there i don’t mean holding hands or sitting close to one another with arms wrapped over one another. i mean hugging and kissing and petting. yes once in a blue moon, i do spy some young couples doing that in public places… esp. at bus stop. once i spy a young couple (who could be no more than 20) hugging each other by the waist and touching each other’s face and ocassionally (always dunno how to spell this!) the boy will rub his cheek against the girl’s. that may be nothing wrong with this kind of act but people… the public… who witnessed it will more often than not feel uncomfortable. and to the couple, come on, are they doing it specially for people to see? if they feel horny, go lah to the botanical gardens or lovers park (or wherever specially meant for couples) to do it… not do it in a public place.

please don’t look to me as though i’m speaking from a moral high ground (or worst… that i had joined PAS!!). no i’m not. it’s just that i feel there’s a place for everything. hugging and kissing should not be done in public… at least not in our country.
