CNY songs in english

few years back, i was lucky enough to have found 2 tapes (cassettes tapes i mean. at that time CD not popular yet) with chinese new year songs in both english and mandarin (with lyrics). they are all those common popular 'evergreen' (or maybe we can refer to them as traditional too) CNY songs like 'kongsi, kongsi', 'her sin nean', 'chai sin tau', 'ta ti hoi chong'. since i’m english ed. and haven’t learned mandarin, naturally i welcome these CNY songs sung in english. i had listened to this many times that i know many of them by heart. i realised that nowadays it's quite difficult to get a hold of these kind of tapes/CD… i mean with both english and chinese, as many CD sellers said the music company had stop producing these kind of album. so i decided to put up here some of the lyrics of the most popular CNY songs in english, for you to sing along this monkey year. go on… make a monkey out of yourself… sing, sing, sing! (title in chinese is within bracket. might not get the tittle exactly correct as spelling is a problem) THE BEST DAY OF THE YEAR (Her Sin Nean) (listen) Happy sound, happy song Happy people sing along To welcome the best day of the year Happy sound, happy song Let the children gather around Rejoice in the best day of the year May the New Year brings you all the things you want And the best of health and wealth to you Happiness in the air happy feeling everywhere Let’s welcome the best day of the year.
