all that our PM said (so far)

so far, 12 days into his ‘PMship’ pak lah had made many statements that kept many of us commentating on them, mostly critical comments or comments like “ok he said it, let’s see if he will do it”.

in the beginning, as i blog here our PM had pledges democracy, pledges crackdown on corruption and abuse of power and pledges to fight terrorism

then quite recently he spoke on cutting down of red tape and wants a task force to be set up to reduce the red tape.

then the statement that got many people to comment and write in their blogs or malaysiakini was that ‘truth’ statement where he urged all BN members to tell him the truth.

finally the latest 2 statements from him, are what i would like to comment on.

on monday, he called on people to cut down on fancy project launches and expensive souvenirs

then on tuesday he told us that he need sincere friends, not apple polishers

i suppose these two are inter-related if he is talking about himself. he doesn’t want people to ‘apple polish’ him by giving him expensive souvenirs or to prepare a grand elaborate fancy welcome for him, like what the star’s wong chun wai commentated on.

well i suppose we can’t blame the people for trying to ‘bodek’ him. (i know there are some non malaysians reading this, so gotta explain ‘bodek’ means ‘apple polishing’). he is a new PM after all and sure people will try to ‘bodek’ him to get into his good book. by people i mean those in the BN or those rich people or businessmen. of course i don’t mean you and i, the ‘regular’ public, since it seems obvious already that many of you had been criticising him most of the time.

pak lah’s advise calling on people to cut down on fancy project launches and expensive souvenirs would apply too, to corporate companies i suppose. i notice some companies do like to organise grand fancy launches for projects and seminars. and when a VIP or some rich person is invited to grace the function, the organisers would make sure the VIP get an expensive souvenir. whereas if ordinary person, say like my friend who is a good toastmaster speaker get invited, i’m sure he would not get a souvenir that is as expensive as the VIP might get. this is rather ironic actually. the rich getting an expensive souvenir while the poor get a simple souvenir. oh i forgot, one has to ‘bodek’ the rich, thus expensive gifts.

no wonder i didn’t get any expensive gifts. i’m not rich (or a VIP). nobody wants to ‘bodek’ me. 🙁
