mosquitoes clones?

can you believe that…. mosquito clones to fight malaria? well, the report says so… that scientists plan to create genetically modified male mosquitoes, then sterilise them, release them to mate with the females mosquitoes, of which they won’t be able to produce offsprings, of which, the mosquitoes (the anopheles type by name) population would be reduced… or even wiped of, of which then the disease malaria could be contained, of which then thousand of lives in malaria-stricken areas would be saved. phew!

you know, i had actually forgotten all about malaria. as our country is now down with dengue fever, i all along thought malaria and dengue are the same. no, i mean i thought mosquitoes brings one type of disease only. silly me. we have the aedes mosquito carrier of dengue and the anopheles mosquito carrier of malaria.

i think it was malaria that seem to me to be more common to me, yet when dengue came at this time, i forgot about malaria. i remember in chinese we like to say ‘hot cold disease’ when describing this disease that is brought by the mosquitoes. one minute you’ll feel very hot, and one minute you’ll be shivering – this is the symptom of malaria, right? silly me thought it was dengue.

hmm… i wonder ada lagi kah any other diseases brought about by these damn mozzies?
