charged the mufti of perak!

it was him. he was the one who started it. though he claimed that the message was started by a woman who went to see him about the alleged baptism, but he had a hand in helping to spread the rumour. the woman, so he claimed, came to him as early as 21 oct. why didn’t he confront the church or report to police when the woman approached him with the news of the alleged baptism? instead he waited until 2 nov…. just 3 days before the so called alleged baptism… and then gathered several representatives of muslim NGO and spread the news to them and this was in a state mosque (public place). how can he expect them not to spread the news? of course they did… and the rest is history.

i’m not going to write more as i had written to the star on tis same issue. i doubt that it would get published. never mind, i’ll wait 3 days, if not published, then i’ll post it here.

i hope the police will act without fear or favour to charge the mufti!!

UPDATED:

sisters in islam (SIS) also shared my opinion that the mufti should shoulder the blame in a letter to malaysiakini. excerpt:

If the mufti had the tiniest of doubts about the authenticity and validity of the woman’s claims, he should have kept the information to himself and submitted the information only to the police for further investigation. He should not have disseminated the unverified outrageous claims to other Muslim NGOs in a mosque.
